Courtney Act shares important personal safe sex message

In December last year, Aussie drag star Courtney Act openly told her Facebook followers she’d had unprotected sex with somebody who she later discovered was HIV positive.

She admitted it was not a smart thing to do and has since started taking PrEP.

At the time, Courtney posted: “Last week I had unprotected sex with somebody who I found out was HIV positive, which, on my behalf, wasn’t a smart decision.

“I should have taken more precautions and used a condom or other precautions like PrEP.”

Courtney has used the experience to send an important message about getting regular checks, using safety precautions, and PrEP.

This week she posted a video to share the results of her HIV test at the Los Angeles LGBT Centre in which it’s revealed that she had not contracted HIV, but had caught chlamydia.
