Wearing a signature beard and sequinned gowns, Conchita Wurst became an overnight sensation in the lead-up to last year’s Eurovision finals.
The Austrian drag queen performer, who went on to win the contest, arrives in Australia this week to launch her debut album, simply named Conchita.
During her first trip down under, Wurst will walk the red carpet as a star attraction at the Logies on Sunday night.
“I am beyond excited, because I haven’t been to Australia before and I am sure I am going to love it,” She said.
“I am really looking forward to see my Australian fans.”
Wurst won hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide not only for her gifted vocals but also her unique persona which fit the unpredictability of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Her Australian visit is timely as Wurst’s home city Vienna gears up for Eurovision 2015, with Australia competing for the first time.
Former Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian will perform his new R & B pop track Tonight Again.
Sebastian could do worse than get some pointers from the bearded lady when they cross paths in the lead-up to this year’s Eurovision final on May 23.
