New Farm’s Nash Theatre is preparing to debut their new production: Mary Chase’s Pulitzer-prize Award winning comedy Harvey.
A favourite since its Broadway debut in 1944, the whimsical fantasy tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd: a good-natured, eccentric bachelor.
Elwood is well-known in his hometown: polite, cheerful and always friendly. He has just one tiny, problematic character trait: his best friend is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey that only he can see.
The classic comedy is the community theatre group’s third stop on their Magical Mystery Tour 2016 season, which has so far featured Daphne du Maurier’s “Rebecca” and William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”.
Harvey is running at Nash Theatre in New Farm from July 9 to 30, directed by Bianca Reynolds. For more information and tickets, see NashTheatre.com.
