It’s a busy time for actress Cassandra Peterson with celebrations for the 40th anniversary of her iconic Elvira character and a role in Rob Zombie’s upcoming The Munsters.

Rob Zombie recently announced Cassandra Peterson will appear in The Munsters reboot. However, Elvira will not be joining the shlock horror Transylvanian-Americans at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Instead, Cassandra Peterson will appear as real estate agent Barbara Carr in the film.

Zombie made the announcement in an Instagram post later shared by The Real Elvira.

“ATTENTION CASTING NEWS! 💀Straight from the set of THE MUNSTERS is your first look at Barbara Carr, the #1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights. Barbara is played by none other the CASSANDRA PETERSON @therealelvira . Yes, the Mistress of the Dark has joined the cast of THE MUNSTERS.”

The Death of Elvira

Meanwhile, Cassandra Peterson is celebrating 40 years since Elvira first appeared as a television horror hostess. She has apparently decided to celebrate the anniversary by killing Elvira as she appears in the Dynamite Entertainment comic book series.

“I’ve done a lot of wild things as the Mistress of the Dark. Everything from film to television, music to comics – even wearing wired headphones and yoga pants!

“But there was one huge item left on my bucket list – DYING! Don’t panic horror hounds, there’s more to this spine-tingling tale than meets the eye!”

However, the PR seems to hint at life after death.

“Could this be the Death of Elvira? Or is this just a desperate attempt to get fans to buy this thrilling special issue?”

We’ll find out soon enough.
