Netflix sci-fi series Sense8 will return for a movie, one of the show’s creators has announced, after fan outcry over its cancellation this month.
The series, created by “The Matrix” masterminds Lana and Lilly Wachowski, followed a group of strangers who suddenly become “sensates” and share a psychic bond.
In a letter posted to the show’s official social media accounts, Lana Wachowski explained a two-hour Sense8 movie would be released next year, and the revival was a result of the hundreds of thousands of fans signing petitions asking Netflix for more.
“Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life. I could kiss every single one of you,” she wrote.
“It is my great pleasure as well as Netflix’s (believe me, they love the show as much as we do but the numbers have always been challenging) to announce there will be another two-hour special released next year.”
The show was praised for its global scope and incredible diverse cast of characters, but Netflix bosses said it’s multi-million dollar budget was the reason for its cancellation.
