“Dance With Me” is Brisbane’s new dance studio for people who want to learn to dance and prefer to learn with a same-sex partner, and the group is returning for the new year.
The classes are held every Tuesday evening in the Warner Hall at the Uniting Church in New Farm, and instructors Kevin and Luisa will also hold monthly Saturday evening social events throughout 2017. Come with your partner, friends or on your own and you’ll find a warm welcome and a fun way to learn dance steps.
“We have only been running for seven months but we’ve already gathered a friendly and enthusiastic group of students,” Dance With Me instructor Kevin said.
“The classes are designed for absolute beginners, people who already have some dance experience, and those who believe they cannot dance – basically, everyone who wants get and stay fit and enjoy music and movement.
“We teach the ballroom waltz, foxtrot and tango; and the Latin cha cha, samba, rumba and salsa. We use lots of current music and songs so you’ll find it easy to dance to anything you hear at parties or clubs!”
Kevin says he discovered a passion for ballroom and Latin dancing relatively late in life, but this didn’t stop him from reaching top ranks in dance competitions across Australia and New Zealand.
He now trains students of all levels of ability in social and competitive dancing and he’s very passionate (and patient!) in bringing his dance skills to his students, imparting the basic techniques that make each dance step easy to learn and execute.
The first Dance With Me class of 2017 is on Tuesday, January 10 and it’s free of charge. For more details about the classes and social dance nights visit the Dance With Me Facebook page.
