Back in 2017, when the majority of Australians were hoping a ‘yes’ vote would bring marriage equality to Australia, Brisbane-based publishing company Paddington Publications was busy compiling the first online edition of their newest title Same Same Weddings Magazine.
Publisher Kerrie Gowenlock said, “We decided to publish Australia’s first same sex wedding magazine to showcase love celebrations including proposals, love stories and commitment ceremonies which had already taken place around Australia.
“Regardless of the outcome of the vote, we were still going to publish the magazine to show our support for marriage equality.
We launched Same Same Weddings online on New Year’s Eve 2017 and the 412 page publication has received almost 400K views and counting.”
Everyone can visit the OnTrend Bridal website and enjoy the free magazine online here.
Paddington Publications has been publishing wedding magazines for almost 30 years, including Brisbane Bride (print) and OnTrend Bridal (print and online) and has now made history with Australia’s first same-sex wedding magazine.
With over 850 businesses listed in the launch edition of Same Same Weddings, the natural progression led to the first Same Same Weddings Expo to be held in Brisbane.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome to come along on Sunday, April 15 from 10am to 4pm at 107 Milton Road in Milton (next to McDonald’s). For more details, visit the expo’s Facebook page here.
As well as the traditional exhibitor stands, the Expo will feature a unique concept of “mix and mingle” where everyone has the opportunity to meet the best of South East Queensland’s wedding industry and chat to them about their wedding plans in an informal, relaxing and all-inclusive environment.
There will also be an opportunity to pick the best brains at the Q&A Expert Panel sessions.
All couples who register via email at samesame@ontrendbridal.com.au will go in the draw to have their wedding featured in an upcoming online edition of Same Same Weddings Magazine.
And to top it all off, all couples attending on the day will go in the draw to win a private luxury cruise on the Super-Yacht Crystal Blue, valued at $3000.
Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa are giving couples the chance to win a two-night Romantic Escape in a Junior Suite, inclusive of breakfast for two daily and car parking, valued at $1590.
