Brisbane Pride opens nominations for 2022 Queens Ball Awards

Brisbane Pride has opened nominations for the 2022 Queens Ball Awards in June.

A date and a theme have now been set for the event.

Members of the community are being asked to nominate their community legends for the 2022 awards.

The 61st annual Queens Ball awards

2022 will mark the 61st year of the awards, now hosted in Brisbane City Hall by the Brisbane Pride Festival.

The annual awards ceremony will take place on Saturday the 25th of June 2022.

Members of Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ Brotherboy and Sistergirl communities are being asked to participate by nominating their community legends for the 2022 Queens Ball Awards.

The committee have called for nominations after recently announcing the date and allowing community members to vote for a theme for this years event.

Earlier, the committee also revealed the 2022 theme would be a masquerade ball.

Nominations are now available online in the following categories.

  • Community Social Group Of The Year
  • Community Support Group Of The Year
  • Community Sporting Group Of The Year
  • Activist Of The Year
  • Ally Of The Year
  • Volunteer Of The Year
  • First Nations Leadership and Engagement Award
  • Young Achievement Award
  • Artist Of The Year
  • Performer Of The Year
  • DJ Of The Year
  • Drag Performer Of The Year
  • Event Of The Year
  • Venue Of The Year

A date for close of nominations has not been listed.

In a slight change to the 2022 awards there are now two less awards than previous years.

The Adult Venue Of The Year award category is no longer available, further to this the Regular Event Of The Year category is now longer up for nomination.
