Brisbane Pride has today announced the new date for Fair Day 2021.

After postponing the event due to Covid concerns last week the event will now take place on Saturday, October 30th 2021.

Long weekend of Brisbane Pride Celebrations

Moving the event to October 30th is a good decision for Brisbane Pride.

The new date will provide another long weekend of celebrations.

After the cancellation of the Ekka earlier this year the Ekka public holiday was moved to Friday the 29th of October.

This will again allow for a long weekend of celebrations for the Brisbane community.

While it is not yet clear if headline entertainer Katie Noonan will still appear at Pride Day, more announcements are expected in the coming days.

However, the event will again return to Newfarm Park as planned.

“Pride celebrations are made visible by our eagerness and united approach to amplify the voices and recognition of LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities, peoples, and allies. Together, let’s make this a safe Fair Day for all attendees,” Brisbane Pride said in a statement.

Rally & March still uncertain for Brisbane Pride

Despite the announcement of the new date for Pride Fair Day, there is no announcement yet for the rally and march.

In a statement, Brisbane Pride announced that they were unable to confirm if the rally and march will proceed.

“We anticipate providing an update in relation to the Rally and March separately in the next week. This activity requires further discussions with key stakeholders to ensure all Rally and March operations are implemented safely.”

Each year thousands of participants march down Brunswick St to Newfarm park before the commencement of Pride Fair Day.

Naturally, logistics for such a sizeable public event require extensive planning and operations to undertake.
