Brisbane Pride is getting ready for the 2022 Queens Ball awards at Brisbane City Hall.

The organization has announced the date for this year’s awards and opened voting for the theme.

It will be the 61st year for the event since its inception.

Queens Ball Awards 2022

The Queens Ball awards are the longest-running LGBTQIA+ event in the world.

Originating on Tamborine Mountain 61 years ago the event was a fun and camp celebration of all things queer.

In a time when it was still illegal to be gay in Queensland, the event was vitally important to so many.

With the event now under the control of the Brisbane Pride festival it continues to grow from strength to strength.

Now taking place in its permanent home at Brisbane City Hall the event plays host to nearly 500 guests each year.

The awards celebrate the achievements of the many LGBTQIA+ members of the Brisbane community.

This year Brisbane Pride has announced the 61st Queens Ball Awards will take place Saturday the 25th of June 2022.

Vote for your 2022 Queens Ball theme

The Queens Ball Awards are not just about the awards themselves.

Every year members of our community come together to celebrate in spectacular fashion.

Each year the Brisbane Pride Festival announces a theme for the annual awards.

Attendees arrive dressed to impress to match the theme for the year with an award for the Belle Of The Ball.

This year the committee is again asking the community to vote for their desired theme for the 2022 awards.

Voting is now open for the following options until March 25th.

  • Masquerade – Maintain a little mystery in black-tie attire and don masks.
  • Pride Lights Up – Step out in progressive pride colors at the 2022 Queens Ball.
  • Black and White – Celebrate in Elegant style at the 2022 Queens Ball.
  • Go For Gold – Glamorous, Gorgeous & Gold!
  • All That Glitters – Jewels, sequins, and glitter galore, YOU are the mirror ball tonight!
