Brisbane lawyer and longtime QNews contributor Stephen Page (pictured, left) has been awarded a prestigious diversity award by the Queensland Law Society (QLS).
QLS President Bill Potts presented Stephen and his firm, Harrington Family Lawyers, with the Equity and Diversity Award – Small Firm Practice Initiative last Thursday.
QLS says their Equity and Diversity Awards recognise firms that promote positive law firm cultures that celebrate staff diversity and accommodate lifestyle needs.
“It was deeply humbling. I was told the reason my firm received the award was because of our advocacy for women and LGBTI people in particular,” Stephen said.
“Receiving the award was a reminder that there is much to be done before we are all treated equally.”
Stephen also received praise for the blog he runs, the Australian Gay and Lesbian Law Blog.
He also recently scored a nomination in the Activist of the Year category at the Queen’s Ball Awards Gala, which will be held on June 11 at Brisbane City Hall.
