The Pride Business Network welcomes LGBTIQ and ally businesses, professionals, individuals and community groups seeking to associate with like-minded people and build networks for the benefit of the entire community.
The Network was founded in Brisbane in the early 1980’s by a group of people committed to networking opportunities for LGBTIQ businesses in Brisbane.
Incorporated as the Free Business Association, the organisation adapted to the changing circumstances of the Queensland socio-political environment and with the decriminalisation of homosexuality, was renamed The Gay and Lesbian Business Network.
More recently, another name change saw a rebranding as the Pride Business Network.
Since its inception, the organisation has remained committed to providing opportunities for building LGBTIQ business networks in Brisbane city.
It aims to encourage successful LGBTIQ business ventures through education, mentoring, support and social interaction.
Pride Business Network held their annual general meeting on October 4. Officeholders for 2018-19 are:
President: Richard Bakker, QNews Magazine publisher
Vice-President: Krissie Green of KL Realty
Secretary: Shaun Botfield of Balloon Connection
Treasurer: Delma Newton of Total Portfolio Management
The meeting also elected Stephanie McMahon of Bank of Queensland, Stafford and Barry Hopkins of Victory Business Solutions as General Committee Members.
“Pride Business Network believes our entire community benefits when successful LGBTIQ businesses contribute their experience and knowledge to assist newer business undertakings,” new president Richard Bakker said.
“The new committee aims to revitalise the Pride Business Network and make it a vibrant and motivating presence in the Brisbane LGBTIQ community.”
The network’s next event will be Breakfast with a Twist on October 18 at the Story Bridge Hotel at Kangaroo Point.
Tickets to the business event are free to new guests on their first three visits.
