A professional body painter has used his incredible skills to turn two bodybuilders into living Tom of Finland leather hunks.
Michael Mejia posted the results of his art project with gym junkies Anthony McDonough and Christopher Glebatsas to his Instagram, and the two men look like they’ve just stepped out of the artist’s scenes.
For the uninitiated, Tom of Finland was a queer European artist who was known for his hypermasculine, erotic images of gay men.
A biopic about Tom, whose real name was Touko Laaksonen, will be released in cinemas in Sydney and Melbourne next month.
Laaksonen returned home to Finnish capital Helsinki after serving in World War II, only to find widespread persecution of homosexual men.
Touko conducted secret affairs with men and was under pressure to marry a woman. However he found freedom – and a worldwide following – through the homoerotic artwork of muscular, leather-clad men he created under the pen name “Tom of Finland”.
