Season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race has long been regarded as one of the best. This week the seasons winner Bianca Del Rio finally addressed a long discussed rumour.
A double crowning.
The internet rumour mill around RuPaul’s Drag Race has always been strong. Every fan theory imaginable has been floated at this stage.
But one long-held rumour is that Bianca Del Rio almost ended up in a tie for first place.
For years the star has remained silent on the matter.
Now she has finally put the rumours to rest.
Bianca Del Rio confirms season six tie
Recently whilst talking to Joseph Shepherd, host of Exposed: Dragged Out, the comedy queen came clean.
Del Rio confirmed the long held rumours that a tie was in fact filmed. Between Bianca and eventual All Stars 2 competitor, Adore Delano.
Prior to season six a double win had never been announced on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
It was not until All Stars Four when Trinity The Tuck and Monet X Change eventually took home the double crown.
Talking on the podcast Bianca Del Rio spoke of her shock at the situation, revealing just which queen was potentially going to tie with her.
Adore Delano.
Whilst Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano and Courtney Act all took their fair share of screen time the tie was a shock to Bianca.
“I remember going ‘What the fuck?” she told Shepherd.
But shock was quickly replaced by sadness as she released with only one tie filmed, it was clear Courtney was not in the running.
Discussing her shock she told the host it wasn’t “because I didn’t win, but because Courtney was left standing there. It was quite obvious that she wasn’t going to get shit. So that’s what I was concerned about. ”
Not only was the tie a shock but eventual her win shocked Del Rio who revealed she did not think she would take home the crown. “Truly the entire season, I thought Adore was gonna win” she revealed. “I was rooting for Adore as well.”
Both Courtney Act and Adore Delano have since gone on to huge careers. Courtney Act has taken to screens across the world including Celebrity Big Brother in the UK and Dancing With the Stars in Australia. Meanwhile Adore Delano has launched the most successful music career of any Drag Race contestant.
Bianca Del Rio continues to be one of the most successful international queens.
Prior to Covid restrictions Bianca was regularly touring the world to sold out shows.
Not the first tie filmed for Rupauls Drag Race
Although this is the first confirmation of a season six double crowning it’s not the first to be filmed.
Several seasons later a second double crowning was filmed by production, shortly before All Stars 4.
Drag Race star Trixie Matel recently revealed her own experience.
Matel revealed in an interview that a tie for All Stars 3 between herself and Kennedy Davenport was also filmed.
Ultimately Trixie took home the win.
