Pride Adelaide has announced that beloved lesbian country music icon Beccy Cole OAM will headline the Big Gay Night Markets at Adelaide Gaol.
The night will bring Adelaide’s LGBTQIA+ community together in one warm, loud, glowing space.
Funded by the Visa Vibe Grants initiative, the Big Gay Night Markets will feature live performances. But Pride Adelaide couldn’t wait to announce the evening’s headliner.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Australian country music icon Beccy Cole will headline the Big Gay Night Markets at Adelaide Gaol on Saturday 29 August,” Pride Adelaide said.
“A proud South Australian and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Beccy is one of Australia’s most loved country performers, with a career spanning more than three decades, multiple Golden Guitar Awards and stages across the country. And this August, she’s coming home for Pride After Dark.”
“Beccy will lead our biggest and most diverse entertainment lineup yet, bringing together live music, DJs, drag, burlesque and more throughout the night.”

‘Pride doesn’t have to hibernate in winter’
The night is set to activate the city’s night-time economy, creating safe, affordable and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community and wider public.
“Pride doesn’t have to hibernate in winter,” Dave from Pride Adelaide told QNews. “Big Gay Night Markets is giving Adelaide a reason to rug up, come out and celebrate.”
“We wanted to create something affordable, welcoming and full of energy. With stalls, food, bars, drag, DJs, live musicians and entertainment across the night. The response has already been huge, with more than 40 stallholders registering in the first 48 hours.”

When the team at Pride Adelaide say there is something for everyone at the Big Gay Night Markets, they mean it.
“Pride is a broad, diverse community with different tastes, different stories and different ways of celebrating,” they said.
“Our entertainment lineup reflects that, with a night designed to bring as many parts of our community together as possible. Pride After Dark is about reclaiming spaces and filling them with something new. We’re bringing thousands of people into one of South Australia’s most historic sites and filling it with music, colour, performance, community and joy.”
There’s still space for performers to join the line-up
If you want to be part of the Big Gay Night Markets stage, head to the Pride Adelaide website. This is your last chance to put your name forward.
“A big part of Pride After Dark is about reclaiming spaces and creating new memories in places people may not expect to see Pride, Dave said. “We do that with care, but also with colour, music, performance, food, laughter and community.”
“With the support of Visa and Mainstreet Australia, Pride After Dark gives us the chance to build something new for Adelaide and fill winter with a lot more colour and joy!”
