Music icon Barry Manilow married his partner and longtime manager Garry Kief last year, it has been reported.
Gossipy insiders spilled the beans to US tabloids People, Us Weekly and the National Enquirer that the 71-year-old “Copacabana” singer wedded Garry in a private ceremony in April last year.
Twenty to thirty guests attended the singer’s home in Palm Springs, California but they weren’t told it was their friends’ wedding until they’d arrived, the sources said.
But the New York Daily News reported that the couple’s shindig last year was just a commitment ceremony, and they plan to legally marry later this year.
A source told People, “[The couple] are committed to one another and have been for a very long time. They have a great relationship. Garry has always been there for Barry.”
“[Barry’s] at a point now where he’s got his career and personal life in a great place and he really doesn’t care what people think. He’s in love and happy.”
The notoriously private Barry hasn’t confirmed any of the news, but Garry, greeted with an outpouring of warm congratulations and well wishes from Twitter followers, tweeted: “LOL….so how was YOUR day?”
