Die hard Star Wars fans spent the lead-up to the franchise’s latest chapter identifying every available clue and formulating frenzied theories.
And now after the release of Star Wars Episode IV: The Force Awakens, they’ve finally started discussing the only thing that’s truly important: which of the series’ male characters are secretly getting it on.
Amorous fans have zeroed in on the scene in the film in which Stormtrooper Finn gave roguish pilot and Han Solo-type Poe Dameron his jacket.
“Finn: I’m sorry, I have your jacket, here you can have it back. Poe: it’s okay! *runs his fingers through his hair* it suits you *blows kiss*” is how Twitter user @ described the scene.
“There’s so many parallels between finnpoe and han leia tho, how do people ship han leia but not see finnpoe as a couple,” @ninetieshorror asked.
But it was Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe, who likely launched a brand new wave of smutty Star Wars fanfiction by telling Ellen Degeneres: “I think it’s very subtle romance [between Poe and Finn] that’s happening.
“You know, you have to just look very close – you have to watch it a few times to see the little hints. But there was.”
But buzzkill John Boyega, who plays Finn, poured cold water on the idea, telling a reporter from The Shortlist in a soon-to-be-published interview that the romance exists only in Oscar’s head.
“Yeah, I’ve seen that! It’s so not true. Oscar wishes it was through, it’s all in his head. It’s a brotherly love, a bromance, that’s for sure,” he said.
