Former US Olympic figure skater and medalist Adam Rippon has revealed that he and Finnish fiancé Jussi-Pekka Kajaala married on New Years Eve.

“SURPRISE WE ARE MARRIED,” the 32-year-old wrote on Instagram.

“One afternoon JP and I looked at each other and said the very classic *romantic* phrase of ‘let’s just go do it now’.

“So we did. It was just the three of us and it was perfect,” he wrote, sharing the date “12/31/21”.

We’re guessing the third person he mentioned is their shared 4-month-old dog Tony, who also appears in the photos.

Kajaala is a real estate broker from Finland. He also posted the same photos and a video of the pair to Instagram.

“We are married!! the video is from the actual wedding day on December 31st 2021,” he said.

“It was just the three of us and a simple ceremony. Exactly what we wanted. Tony has two happy dads.”

‘Perfect’ low-key wedding in California

Adam Rippon told People magazine said he and his fiance, whom he calls JP, “always wanted to do something simple” and small for their nuptials.

“I think everybody knew that we were going to do it,” he explained.

“[But] nobody knew if we were going to give them a heads up or not.

“I guess we didn’t even know if we were giving ourselves a heads up. Listen, we’re unpredictable.”

Rippon said they contacted a marriage celebrant and snatched up a last-minute afternoon booking she had.

She performed the low-key ceremony in a California marriage service’s office suite, under an archway of fake plants and flowers.

“It was like what you would get from the dollar store if you knew you had a wedding in five minutes,” Rippon quipped.

“But it was perfect.”

Adam Rippon met husband in Finland in 2017

The couple met on Tinder in Finland in 2017, while Adam Rippon was over there for a skating competition.

Rippon is now retired from figure skating, but is now a coach and will travel to Beijing next month for the Winter Olympics.

He and his partner were sadly separated for much of 2020 due to the pandemic. But the couple got engaged at the end of the year.
