A breakdown of Grindr’s annual global gay, bi, trans, and queer data, Grindr Unwrapped, has revealed that Australia is in its Daddy Era.
Grindr Unwrapped is back for another year, revealing data from the world’s largest LGBTQ+ social networking app.
It’s the app’s own version of Spotify’s popularend-of-year recap.
And who are we kidding, queers love data.
It’s always interesting to see where things land in hookup preferences and bedroom trends.
In 2022, Australia and New Zealand were among the highest percentages of users who are ‘sides’ worldwide.
2023 saw Aussie ‘femme tops’ take the lead, with ‘daddies’ and ‘sides’ still going strong.
And last year, Australia topped the world in users who are ‘vers’ and ‘sides’.
In the past year alone, Grindr users reportedly sent over 135 billion chats, and the most used emojis in bios were 🍆, 🔥 and 😈.
12,800,000,000 taps were sent on the app with 3.3 billion albums shared.
In ranking order, the top-searched Grindr profile tags were ‘hung’, ‘trans’, ‘bb’, ‘dom’, and ‘feet’, which is the same order as last year.
Columbia was the city sending the most X-rated pics, with Taiwan being the city with the most favourited profiles, and Japan being the top city looking for friends.

Australia came second in ‘Daddy’ capitals of the world after the United States, followed by the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Canada.
And Australia had the fifth-highest percentage of ‘Vers’ players by country, behind Finland, Germany, Austria and Hungary.
Australia also ranked fifth as a side hotspot, below Singapore, the Philippines, Japan and New Zealand.
We were also the fifth hung bottom capital, behind France, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
And we were the fifth fem top hot spot, with the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and Slovenia ahead of us.
Honestly, this data couldn’t be more helpful when planning a holiday.

The biggest top shortage according to the stats are:
- Vietnam

According to the stats, the countries most into feet were:
- Italy
- Germany
- United Kingdom

The countries that were the fastest repliers according to the stats were:

Lady Gaga was crowned Mother of the Year and Album of the Year with MAYHEM, plus Song of the Year with Abracadabra.
Pedro Pascal was crowned Daddy of the Year and Jinx Monsson Doll of the Year.
And the People’s Sexiest Man Alive, Jonothan Bailey, was crowned, you guessed it, Hottest Man Alive!
