Sunshine Cleaning
Review by Angela Yin
Sunshine Cleaning is a comedy-drama starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), two sisters who start a crime scene cleaning business together.
Rose Lorkowski (Adams) is a 30-something single mother who needs to send her trouble-making eight-year-old son, Oscar, to private school. Rose is working as a domestic cleaner, while studying for her real estate license. Meanwhile, she's seeing a married man, who is a police officer, who encourages her to get into the lucrative crime scene clean-up business to help pay for her son's private school fees.
Rose convinces her unemployed, underachieving sister Norah (Blunt) to join her Sunshine Cleaning enterprise and this takes them on a journey of self-discovery, particularly in coming to terms with their own mother's death.
Similar to Little Miss Sunshine and Sideways in being an independent American film, it is funny, touching very quirky.
