Show Your True 'Sporting' Colours
What does it mean to be gay and a sportsperson….and does it matter anyway? Damn straight it does! We have so few people who truly acknowledge their whole being and it will only get easier as more people get involved. We salute Matthew Mitcham - not just for being the highest scoring diver in history but also for being 'real'. (if only some sponsors had the same strength of courage to get behind him!) Pride is about looking at who you are, what you have done and more importantly what you can become. There are many ways to get out and about to beat the cold this winter! Here are some of our favourites:
Book Club - One for the not so active - Queer Readers meet at New Farm Library.
Ten Pin Bowling - Leagues on both the North and Southside.
Bushwalking - The Outtrekkers get out and about in our wilderness on weekends.
Club Phoenix - A Women Only Club that provides regular social and sporting events.
Cycling - there are 2 groups that cater to social and serious levels
Running - the Brisbane Frontrunners & Walkers jog around some of our most beautiful city scenery & the Gold Coast now has the Rainbow Runners
Squash - City and Stafford, and out of the cold!
Swimming - the pool is hot, and the Aqualicious Squad is hotter! Firmly one of Australia's leading gay and lesbian swim teams.
Tennis - Every match is 'love all' with Gay Tennis Brisbane. Racquets abound at Spring Hill
Touch Football - New Farm Social Touch is for the guys and girls who like to get active.
Volleyball - 2 teams play on Monday nights where they spike anything but drinks!
There are also plenty of other activities and events coming up so check out the details on the website www.teambrisbane.com Don't be shy - there are plenty of people just like you who like to get active in our great state.
