It’s here, it’s queer, for another fabulous year!
Now in its 11th year, the 10 day celebration will screen over 33 features, shorts and documentary films, the best of bent cinema. The range of viewing on offer will once again present a diverse, unique, sexy and thrilling program for your pleasures, with films from the UK, USA, Canada, Spain, Argentina, Israel, Germany, France and even Iceland and Norway.
Watch a young Salvador Dali, played by Robert Pattinson explore artistic freedom and love in 1922 Madrid in Little Ashes; a troubled British teen wrapped up in a violent gang and hiding his sexuality; lesbian lovers testing the boundaries of their new relationship and each other; a supernatural murder mystery set in the gay porn industry; a pregnant student sent to prison for a murder she didn’t commit, who falls in love with a fellow inmate; a story of secret love in Jerusalem’s orthodox community; the life of gay icon, Quentin Crisp. An intriguing mix of style, languages and genres not to be missed.
Striking documentaries this year feature one of Andy Warhol’s famous muses, Candy Darling, transgender sibling rivalry, and the fight against homophobia and discrimination in professional women’s basketball.
The BQFF program also features the usual screening of both girls and boys short films from around the world.
Various ticket packages are available as well as single tickets so you can get the most out of your festival. Check out the full program of films for the 11th Annual Brisbane Queer Film Festival.
