Bake a cake for charity's sake!

Time to dust of those aprons and get out the mixing bowls, because The Sportsman Hotel Annual Gay and Lesbian Charity Bake Off and Handcraft Auction is coming up, and as always is expected to raise much needed funds for charity, which this year will be going towards Open doors and PFLAG.

The Bake Off is the perfect chance for all of you budding master chefs out there to show off your culinary talents all in the name of charity - but if baking is not your thing, then there is no need to worry. Arts and crafts are also a big part of the day. In fact anything you can make or donate to go up for auction will be gladly welcomed.

Last year's Bake Off saw a record $15,000 raised for local LGBT charities and it is hoped that this total can be at least equalled if not bettered. Finances have been a bit tighter for a lot of people in the past year, but it is the charities who have been hit the hardest with an increase in the number of people needing help and fewer donations coming in - this only serves to make events like the Bake Off & auction the more important.
