By Lara Hill For those who don’t know Chuck Norris for his ‘extensive’ acting resume, which includes Way of the Dragon and Walker: Texas Ranger, will certainly know him for the infamous Chuck Norris facts. Fact: Chuck Norris believes gay people have no place in the Boy Scouts. Sadly, unlike the slew of other Chuck Norris facts, this one is actually true and not remotely funny. The 72-year-old action star has written an article for the AmmoLand.com (I kid you not that’s a website) entitled "Is Obama Creating a Pro-Gay Boy Scouts of America?" In it Norris, an outspoken Republican activist, opposes a movement to overturn the century-old rule that bans gay scouts and scout leaders from joining the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Norris criticised James Turley, a high ranking BSA official who recently announced his plan to "seek a change" to a Boy Scouts policy that bans gay scouts and gay scout leaders. He suggests Turley is only championing the cause because he's trying to favour Barack Obama's "pro-gay" administration. Norris then continues his rant raising an incredibly inappropriate question about the president's encounter with a group of Boy Scouts "behind closed doors" "Is it a coincidence, too, that on March 3, 2009, Obama became the honorary president of the BSA but that Obama’s induction was held behind closed doors in the Oval Office with seven or so Boy Scouts present and absolutely nothing noted in the White House daily briefing or any other official communication?" GLAAD released its own statement commenting on Norris' article noting: "Celebrities who support gay Americans are enjoying popular careers while Chuck Norris appears to be a fame-hungry has-been with poor research skills." My guess is that quote won’t be featured in AmmoLand.com anytime soon.
