QNews is a niche publication that caters to 10% of the population. We have carefully developed our brand since the year 2000 and have built a trusted loyalty with our discerning readers. You will not be able to access our readers in the same concentration as affordabley and effectively via any other medium. All of our readers have opened, picked up or read online our magazine because they chose to.

Many businesses benefit by advertising to this niche market. Myself and my team have honed and developed an extensive state-wide distribution including both the printed version and online copies of QNews magazine. We target and cater to a wide demographic within the gay & lesbian (G&L) community. G&L people generally seek no more or less than most buyers but they do tend to be slightly more sophisticated than some markets. As always there are simple rules to follow when marketing towards any niche market and below I have highlighted some points to assist you.

DIRECT MARKETING
In recent years marketing gurus have highlighted the importance of building client data bases and direct marketing to your potential customers. QNews does just that. Over 120,000 different people read QNews regularly at least once a month. No other medium will deliver as many loyal readers to this significant niche market here in Queensland and Northern NSW.

CAMPAIGN BUILDING
This market is sensitive to corporate raiders that sometimes expect huge instant results from full page adverts. Whilst we have a good history of proven results campaigns need to be tailored to our readers. The QNews team can help you build an affordable targeted campaign that is most likely to deliver financially rewarding results. Branding means everything to our readers. Our readers have a proven track record of supporting those who support the G&L community. QNews can deliver a high amount of traffic to you and the rest is up to your team to make the sale and care for your new customers. I strongly suggest smaller adverts and an extended campaign to attract new customers from our readers the same as you would for any “niche market”. Spend your same allocated funds over a longer time and reap the rewards. The exception of course is time based marketing such as “TWO DAY DESIGNER CLOTHES SALE” or maybe “LARGE MUSICAL TICKET RELEASE”.

DISTRIBUTION
Our extensive distribution has taken years to build. Remember Queensland is the only state where more people live outside the capital city than in it and QNews caters extensively to regional Queensland as well as a comprehensive Brisbane and Gold Coast distribution every fortnight. BEWARE of other magazines that claim large distributions but do not deliver. ALWAYS CHECK a magazines distribution by randomly phoning points from published distribution lists. QNews proudly publishes our distribution list online and we are growing constantly. If a magazine does not publish their distribution they probably are misleading you.

AFFORDABLE
QNews offers some of the most affordable advertising possible and we provide excellent advertising responses for those who work with our marketing people. We DO NOT advertise ridiculously high prices just to entice people with big discounts. Magazines who offer crazy discounts and big distress rates constantly must be cutting back somewhere, usually their print numbers. We have many volunteers as well as professional writers and a lot of community support for the work we do. Doctors, lawyers and other professionals are amongst those who support and contribute to QNews. This means we can provide affordable prices. REMEMBER, if you are approached by people offering cheap advertising it most probably is just that. “Cheap advertising is suddenly very expensive if it doesn’t work.” Instead QNews can help drive more customers your way by innovative inclusions and add ons like our internet advertising, our email newsletters to over 6,000 people etc.

PROUDLY QUEENSLAND
Yes, QNews is the only Queensland based magazine that caters to the G&L market. Visit our offices in Brisbane and you will see we are proud Queenslanders serving ALL Queensland and of course our friends in Northern New South Wales. We understand the market we live in and WE ARE NOT based interstate with a few front people. This is significantly important to our readers.

IMAGERY
In all magazines imagery is very important and we encourage all advertisers to use images where possible to communicate their message. Niche market magazines are like a cross between the internet and newspapers, they succeed best with images. Our readers also have a sense of humour so we encourage advertisers to use humour as well as vibrant, bold, creative and “out there” images to capture reader’s attention. Sterile images and conservatism are not as effective in this market. Some of our most successful campaigns have also been the most fun not just for the readers but for our advertising clients as well. Having said that we also have a serious side. STABILITY
QNews is the only Queensland magazine catering to the G&L market with a stable history. Others have come and gone and changed owners and schedules many times but I am proud to say the buck stops with me as I am the Managing Director and have over 17 years experience in G&L publishing. That means I am the most experienced Australian publisher marketing to the G&L market. And yes, I am accessible if you have a tricky problem or need advice on a campaign or selling to our community. QNews constantly puts back into the G&L community by supporting many worthwhile causes and groups. Part of our philosophy is to contribute a wide range of support via advertising marketing and resources to help charities and other groups help themselves. We contribute to difficult problems like youth suicide with just over $150,000 raised for this issue alone.
